Mile High Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 1/2 tsp. soda
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, soda, cream of tartar and salt. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Combine eggs and milk.
    Add to flour mixture all at once, stirring just enough to make a soft dough that sticks together.
    Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead lightly 15 times.
    Roll to 1-inch thickness.
    Cut with floured 2-inch cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
