Basil-Tomato Cream Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. onion, diced
    1/2 c. red sweet pepper, chopped
    1 c. basil leaves, finely chopped
    1/4 c. oil
    8 oz. can stewed tomatoes
    8 oz. half and half or cream
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Preparation
    Saute onion, pepper, garlic and basil in oil.
    Add tomatoes. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
    Add cream, salt and pepper.
    (You can thicken with flour, if desired.)
    Serve over pasta, scallops, etc.
