Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers (sliced)
    4 heaping Tbsp. lime
    2 heaping Tbsp. alum
    4 lb. sugar
    1 qt. vinegar (more, if needed)
    1/2 c. salt
    1/4 c. pickling spices
Preparation
    Soak in lime water for 12 hours.
    Rinse in clear water.
    Soak in salt water 4 hours. Soak in plain water 2 hours.
    Boil in alum water 5 minutes.
    Drain all water out.
    Add sugar, vinegar and spices.
    Cook 15 minutes.
    Let cool.
    Put in jars and seal.
