Raisin Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
    3 eggs (1/2 to 2/3 c.)
    1/2 c. cut up nuts
    1/2 c. cut up raisins
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.
    Add brown sugar, shortening and buttermilk.
    Beat 2 minutes and then add eggs.
    Beat 2 more minutes.
    Fold in nuts and raisins.
    Pour into prepared pans.
    Bake until cake tests done.
    Cool.
    Spread with Egyptian filling.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 (moderate oven) for 30 to 35 minutes for layers, 35 to 40 minutes for oblong cake.
