Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour or 1 2/3 c. cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/3 c. soft butter or margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. light molasses
1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with salt, soda and spices.
Cream butter until smooth.
Add sugar and egg and cream until light and fluffy.
Add molasses and beat vigorously for 2 minutes longer.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately in 3 or 4 portions, beginning and ending with flour and beating well after each portion.
Turn batter into a greased 11 x 7 x 1/2-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool in pan on cake rack for 5 minutes, then turn out on rack and invert.
Serve warm or cold.
If glass dish is used, bake at 325\u00b0.
