Ingredients

1 c. softened butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation

Mix all ingredients.
Divide dough in half and chill until firm, about 3 hours.
Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Before rolling out dough, roll to 1/4-inch thick on lightly floured board.
With cutters, cut in different shapes.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
Yields 4 dozen 2-inch cookies.
