Buttermilk Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1 stick butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. pecan meats, chopped fine (optional)
Preparation
    Blend first four ingredients in cooking vessel, bring to a boil.
    Add vanilla when mixture comes to soft ball stage.
    Cool. Add nuts; beat.
