Baked Barley - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box barley
    1 stick margarine or butter
    1 bay leaf
    3 c. water
    1 box dried onion soup mix
    1 large can sliced mushrooms
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
Preparation
    Saute the barley in the butter or margarine until barley kernels are lightly browned, stirring frequently.
    Put in casserole with the remaining ingredients.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 hours, adding more water as needed.
    Serves 8 to 12.
