Southern Style Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. milk
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    1/3 c. melted shortening
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. yellow or white cornmeal
    1/2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Grease and lightly dust with flour a 9 x 13 baking pan. In a mixing bowl, combine milk, eggs, melted shortening and sugar; mix well and add remaining ingredients. Stir well and pour into prepared pan. Spread evenly from center toward corners of pan to provide a more even baking. If corners are left thin, they will overbake and the center will still be doughy. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown. Allow to cool about 5 minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Cut into squares to serve.
