Corn Meal Pastry - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. flour
1/4 c. cornmeal
dash of chili powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
3 Tbsp. cold water
Preparation

Combine flour, cornmeal and seasonings in a bowl.
Cut in shortening thoroughly.
Sprinkle in water 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until all flour is moistened.
Gather into a ball.
Roll on a lightly floured surface.
Cut slits in the center.
Total cooking time: 50 to 60 minutes.
Recipe yields 6 servings.
