Christmas Spiced Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 cinnamon sticks, broken into thirds
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1/2 qt. Almaden Burgundy wine
    2 qt. cranapple juice
Preparation
    Boil and simmer first 4 ingredients for 10 minutes and chill. Add wine and juice, chilled. Make an ice ring with orange slices at bottom, the day before; optional. Strain punch base. Pour everything into the punch bowl. Serves 14.
