Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
    3/4 c. plain flour
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 egg, beaten
    1 large onion, chopped
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in warm water.
    Combine cornmeal and flour in bowl.
    Add buttermilk and mix thoroughly.
    Add egg, chopped onion and dissolved yeast and mix well.
    Drop from teaspoon into deep, hot fat.
    Cook until golden brown.
    Serve while hot.
