Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
cherry halves (optional)
extra nuts (optional)
Preparation

Scald dates, baking soda and butter with the cup of boiling water.
When cool, add all other ingredients.
Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 45 to 55 minutes (use an angel food cake pan or Bundt pan).
Cool upside-down and when removed from pan, glaze with powdered sugar/water or just sprinkle with powdered sugar. Decorate with cherry halves and nuts.
