Aunt Bertha'S Stack Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/2 sticks margarine
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar; beat in eggs one at a time. Mix flour with soda, salt and spices. Add this alternately with sugar mixture and buttermilk. If batter seems too stiff, add a little more buttermilk. Put 3 large spoonfuls of batter in 8 or 9-inch pans which have been greased and floured. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until done. Stack layers with unsweetened and spiced applesauce. Makes 6 to 8 layers.
