Grandma Mabels Buns - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. yeast
    1 c. sugar + 1 tsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. instant potatoes
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1/3 c. powdered milk
    2 Tbsp. salt
    4 c. flour
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp. sugar in 1 c. warm water. Dissolve instant potatoes in 1/2 c. warm water. Cool. Melt shortening, let cool. Dissolve powdered milk in 1 1/2 quarts warm water. Add all ingredients to yeast mixture. Mix with mixer until blended. Stir in more flour, knead, adding more flour as needed until dough is smooth and elastic. Let rise until doubled, punch down and let rise again. Make into buns, flatten out and let rise. Bake at 350\u00b0 until brown. Brush with butter or shortening.
