Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream the butter. Add the sugar and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Add extract. Chill dough for 1 hour. Form into balls and bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 375\u00b0. Frost with colored frostings and trim with nuts and candies.
These cookies also may be rolled into balls, dipped into sugar and flattened with a fork.
