Lye Hominy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. corn
    8 Tbsp. lye
    2 gallons water
Preparation
    Dissolve the lye in boiling water
    using iron kettle or enameled ware.
    Add corn.
    Boil several minutes or until hulls loosen.
    Rinse corn through several changes of water to remove lye.
