Christmas Wassail - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. apple cider
    4 juice oranges
    2 lemons
    1 Tbsp. whole cloves
    1 Tbsp. whole allspice
    4 cinnamon sticks, broken
    sugar to taste
    1 qt. dark rum
Preparation
    Pour the apple cider into a large saucepan.
    Strip the peels from the oranges and lemons, using a vegetable peeler (trim only the zest, none of the white).
    Add peels to cider.
    Squeeze juice from lemons and oranges; add.
    Stir in cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks.
