Hard Tack Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. Karo syrup
    1 c. water
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. flavoring oil
    5 drops coloring
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Mix sugar, Karo and water in large, heavy saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until boiling.
    Boil, while stirring, until 310\u00b0 or until beads form in cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in coloring and flavoring.
    Pour onto cold, buttered marble.
    Cut into pieces and drop into powdered sugar.
