David'S Favorite (Easy) Cornbread - cooking recipe

3/4 c. flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. corn meal
1 egg
1 c. whole or 2% milk
Preparation

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.
Add corn meal. Separately beat egg, then add milk.
Melt 3 tablespoons butter in 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan in preheated 425\u00b0 oven (about 3 minutes).
Coat pan with melted butter.
Pour remainder over dry mixture.
Add milk and egg mixture.
Mix with spoon until thoroughly moistened.
Don't overdo! Pour into pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean (crisp top; not too dark).
