Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation

Mix together the shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
Add the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
Form into 1-inch balls.
Lightly press your finger in the middle of each to make a small dent.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while warm.
