Ingredients

2 lb. stew meat
2 onions, cut in 8ths
3 stalks celery, cut in large pieces
4 carrots, quartered
1 c. tomato juice
1/4 to 1/3 c. quick cooking tapioca
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 medium potatoes, cut 1/4-inch thick
Preparation

Combine beef, onion, celery and carrots in a 3-quart casserole.
Combine the rest (except potatoes) and pour over meat and vegetables.
Cover and bake at 300\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
Add potatoes and bake 1 hour longer.
Stir occasionally.
