Ingredients

1 c. Pillsbury's Best all-purpose or unbleached flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 3/4 c. hot water
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
In a large bowl, combine first 9 ingredients.
Mix at medium speed until well blended.
Spread in an ungreased 8 or 9-inch square pan.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa and hot water; pour over batter.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake is set.
Serve warm or cool, topped with cream or whipped cream.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
