Ingredients

3/4 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. buttermilk
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. cocoa
3/4 c. hot water
2 c. plain flour
Preparation

Dissolve cocoa in hot water and let cool.
Stir soda into buttermilk.
Cream the Crisco and sugar together.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift flour and baking powder and add to mixture.
Add buttermilk mixture and vanilla.
Add cocoa and water last.
Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until done.
