Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can French-style green beans
    1 can sliced carrots
    1 can peas
    1 large onion, sliced thin
    1 can sliced water chestnuts
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. oil
    1/3 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Drain cans well.
    Arrange the first five ingredients in layers.
    Mix remaining ingredients and pour over vegetables.
    Let stand overnight.
    Next day, drain well.
    Add Hellmann's mayonnaise.
