Fresh Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pie crust, baked
    6 c. strawberries (about 1 1/2 qt.)
    1 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. water with red food color
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
Preparation
    Mash berries to measure 1 cup.
    Stir together sugar and cornstarch.
    Stir in water and crushed berries.
    Cook over medium heat until thickened.
    Boil and stir 1 minute.
    Stir in a few drops red food color.
    Let cool.
    Beat cream cheese until cool. Spread on bottom of pie shell.
    Fill shell with berries.
    Pour berry mixture over top.
    Chill 3 hours.
