Spicy Swiss Steaks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ground allspice
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 lb. beef round steak (about 1-inch thick)
    1/3 c. all-purpose flour
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1 medium onion, minced
    3 c. peeled, chopped tomatoes
Preparation
    Rub salt, allspice and pepper well into steak.
    Dredge meat with flour.
    Pound in flour with edge of plate.
    Heat shortening in heavy casserole.
    Brown meat quickly on both sides.
    Add onions and tomatoes.
    Cover and bake in 350\u00b0 oven for about 1 1/2 hours. Check occasionally for moisture.
    If necessary, add a little hot water.
