Poor Man'S Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. light brown sugar, packed firmly
1 c. water
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder

Preparation

Mix first 7 ingredients in a medium saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Cool. Sift
together
flour,
soda
and
baking
powder. Gradually
stir dry
ingredients into raisin mixture and beat well.
Pour into a well-greased 8 x 4 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 about 1 hour.
