Chicken Cacciatore - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 Tbsp. olive or salad oil
    1 c. coarsely chopped onions
    4 garlic cloves, minced
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) fryers, cut up
    1 medium green pepper, chopped
    2 (29 oz.) cans tomatoes
    1/2 c. Chianti (optional)
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
    2 bay leaves
Preparation
    About 1 1/2 hours before serving:
    In 12-inch skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat in hot olive oil, cook chicken a few pieces at a time until browned on all sides; set aside chicken.
