Crusty Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sifted enriched flour
    1 tsp. salt
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/4 c. corn meal
    1 well beaten egg
    1 c. milk
    1/3 c. cooking oil
Preparation
    Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar.
    Mix with corn meal.
    Combine egg, milk and shortening.
    Add to dry ingredients, stir just until moistened.
    Pour in a greased 9-inch square pan.
    Bake in hot oven 450\u00b0 for 25-30 minutes.
    If you prefer less flour in your corn bread, all or any part of the flour can be replaced with corn meal, making the recipe to your special taste.
