Basic Roll Dough - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. soft shortening
1 tsp. salt
3 to 4 c. flour
Preparation

In a large bowl dissolve the yeast in warm water.
Beat the egg and stir in all other ingredients except add only half the flour. Add more flour until the dough is stiff enough to work with the hands.
Place a small amount of flour on table; transfer dough and knead for about 5 minutes.
Wash and grease the bowl.
Place dough in bowl and turn to grease top.
Cover with damp cloth and let rise in a warm place about 1 1/2 hours.
Push down and let stand 30 minutes.
Shape into rolls or loaf.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Grease tops with butter and serve hot.
