Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. coarsely chopped green tomatoes
    2 qt. chopped onions
    1 pt. chopped hot peppers
    5 c. sugar
    2 qt. white vinegar
    1 c. salt
Preparation
    Put salt over chopped tomatoes; let stand about 3 hours. Squeeze out water and add vinegar, sugar, onions and pepper.
    Stir often.
    Let come to a boil (but do not boil).
    Put in jars and seal.
