Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. corn meal
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
1 egg
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 Tbsp. bell or hot pepper
1/2 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Mix all ingredients and drop by teaspoonful into deep hot oil. Hush puppies will turn themselves when underside is brown.
Cook until golden brown on all sides.
May take more or less to make stiff batter.
