Nine Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. barley pearls
    1 lb. black beans
    1 lb. red beans
    1 lb. pinto beans
    1 lb. navy beans
    1 lb. Great Northern beans
    1 lb. lentils
    1 lb. split peas
    1 lb. black-eyed peas
    2 c. soup mix
    2 qt. water
    1 lb. ham, diced
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/2 to 3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    1/2 tsp. seasoned pepper
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes and green chilies
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. smoked sausage, sliced
Preparation
    Combine all dry beans; rinse.
    Place in large pot.
    Cover with water 2 inches above beans and soak overnight.
    Drain beans.
    Add 2 quarts water and next 6 ingredients.
    Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2 hours or until beans are tender.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
