Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. boneless sirloin steak
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    2 medium chopped onions
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. diluted beef broth
    3 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 bell peppers (in 1-inch strips)
    1/4 c. cold water
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 can stewed tomatoes (not drained)
Preparation
    Cut steak in 1-inch strips.
    Brown with shortening in skillet. Add onions and salt.
    Saute until onions are tender.
    Stir in broth and soy sauce.
    Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes or until meat is tender.
    Add bell pepper.
    Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
    Combine water and cornstarch.
    Mix well.
    Stir cornstarch mixture into steak mixture.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
    Add tomatoes; stir constantly until tomatoes are hot.
    Serve over rice.
