Broccoli Cheese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 oz. broccoli, chopped
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 1/2 c. half and half or light cream
    1 c. water
    1 c. chicken broth (or vegetable)
    2 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    4 Tbsp. butter
    5 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
    Add the flour and mix well.
    Then add the liquids.
    Increase the heat to medium and allow to cook for a few minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking until it begins to thicken.
    Add the broccoli, onion and garlic powder.
    Allow to cook for an additional 15 minutes.
    Add the cheese and cook for another 5 minutes.
    You can garnish with additional grated cheese or croutons if you desire.
