Old Fashioned Irish Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 lb. stewing beef, cubed
    1/4 c. butter
    3 c. water
    2 celery stalks, cut into inch pieces
    1 bay leaf
    12 small onions, peeled
    6 medium carrots, scraped and cut into 1-inch pieces
    3 potatoes, peeled and quartered
Preparation
    Combine
    flour,
    salt,\tpepper and glutamate in a bowl. Coat meat with flour mixture.
    Melt butter; add meat, browned. Add water, celery and bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and
    simmer
    for
    1
    1/2
    hours or until meat is almost tender. Add remaining ingredients.\tContinue cooking 1/2 hour or
    until meat
    and
    vegetables
    are\ttender.

    6 to 8 servings.
