Okra Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. diced okra
    3 ripe tomatoes
    3 strips bacon
    2 small onions, diced
    1 green pepper, diced
    1 clove garlic, minced
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Wash okra and cut crosswise in thin slices.
    Peel and dice tomatoes.
    Fry bacon until crisp.
    Drain and crumble.
    Put okra, onions, green pepper and garlic into skillet with bacon drippings and cook until just tender.
    Add tomatoes and cook slowly, covered, about 30 minutes.
    Stir often.
    Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over dish when ready to serve.
    Good served over rice.
