Gold Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 c. corn meal
1 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/4 c. soft shortening
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients into bowl; add egg, milk and shortening. Beat with eggbeater until smooth; place in pans (8-inch), greased. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 425\u00b0.
