Grandmother'S Sour Milk Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 scant c. sugar
    1 scant c. sour milk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    few grains salt
    few grains nutmeg
    few grains cinnamon
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Combine eggs and sugar.
    Combine milk with soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and flour.
    Stir into egg mixture and beat well.
    If necessary, add more flour to make dough stiff enough to roll.
    Roll 1/3-inch thick.
    Shape with doughnut cutter.
    Fry in deep hot fat, 360\u00b0, turning once.
    Keep fat at uniform temperature.
    When doughnuts are brown, drain on absorbent paper.
    Makes about 2 dozen doughnuts.
