Chicken Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1/4 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
    1 garlic clove, crushed
    4 c. chicken broth
    3/4 c. uncooked white rice
    2 c. fresh or frozen sliced okra
    2 c. diced cooked chicken
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. dried basil
    1/4 tsp. dried thyme
    1/8 tsp. black pepper
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. cold water
    hot cooked rice
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
    Add onions, green pepper, mushrooms and garlic; saute lightly.
    Stir in broth, uncooked rice, okra, chicken, salt, basil, thyme and black pepper.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes, or until rice is tender.
    In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water.
    Stir into soup.
    Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
    Remove from heat.
    If desired, serve over cooked rice.
