Amalgamation Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. plain flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sweet milk
    1 c. Crisco
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream Crisco and sugar well.
    Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
    Separate eggs.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Mix together flour and milk with the Crisco and sugar mixture, making sure to alternate flour and milk, beginning with flour and ending with flour.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites.
    Bake at 300\u00b0.
