Black Midnight Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. hot coffee or hot water
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Sift flour first; then measure and sift all dry ingredients. Cream sugar and shortening.
Add beaten eggs.
Alternately add liquid and dry ingredients.
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 25 minutes or until done.
Makes two 8-inch round layers.
