Poor Man'S Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    2 green onions, chopped
    2 c. celery, sliced diagonally
    1 c. water chestnuts, sliced
    1 c. bamboo shoots
    1 c. carrots, sliced diagonally
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 lb. fresh bean sprouts
    1 c. shredded cabbage
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Cook hamburger in large 6-quart pot until browned; drain.
    Add ingredients in layers as listed.
    Cover and simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    When done, thicken with 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water.
    Serve over steamed rice or chow mein noodles (hard).
