Mixed Winter Fruit Compote - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. apple or orange juice
    1/2 c. dark brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
    1 cinnamon stick or 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/2 lemon
    1 lb. mixed dried fruit (prunes, apples, apricots and pears; usually found packaged together)
Preparation
    In a 2-quart microwave-safe casserole, combine all ingredients except fruit, stirring well to blend.
    Stir in the fruit.
    Cover tightly with a lid or plastic wrap turned back slightly. Microwave on High for 15 minutes, stirring once after 7 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
    Serve warm.
    Serves 6.
