Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1 c. hot water (add last)
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and molasses.
Then add dry ingredients.
Add hot water last.
Beat until smooth.
Batter is thin, but makes a nice cake.
Bake in greased 12 x 9-inch cake pan at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or little longer. This cake is very good with brown sugar icing.
