Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter or shortening
2/3 c. raisins
1 tsp. caraway seed
1 egg
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt together; cut in butter or shortening.
Add raisins and caraway seed.
Mix well.
Add egg and buttermilk and mix to smooth dough. Knead on floured board about one minute.
Shape into a ball, cut a cross and sprinkle with a teaspoon of sugar.
Bake in greased cake pan or cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes at 400\u00b0, then for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
