Farmer'S Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c butter
    2 1/4 c flour
    3/4 c sugar
    1 c ground pecans, with 1/4 c reserved and mixed w/sugar
    1 Tbsp vanilla
    1 Tbsp dark corn syrup
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 egg white
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar with wooden spoon as little as possible.
    Add vanilla, soda, syrup and nuts and mix slightly. Put all of flour on a large board.
    Gradually knead in all of flour. Divide dough and roll in long strands.
    Pat down on a cookie sheet.
    Brush with egg white and sprinkle with nut mixture. Place in 350 degree oven and bake about 15 minutes.
    Watch so dough doesn't get too brown.
    Take out and cut diagonally.
    Put back in oven to lightly brown and crisp.
    Watch closely.
    Don't double.
