Scalloped Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 6 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    1/2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    1 Tbsp. fine bread crumbs
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
    nutmeg
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Put apples in buttered shallow baking dish, 8 x 8-inches.
    Add water.
    Mix sugars, cinnamon and allspice. Sprinkle over apples along with lemon juice, bread crumbs and nutmeg.
    Dot with butter.
    Bake about 45 minutes until apples are soft.
    While still hot, spoon any excess liquid in the pan over apples and gently pat down top layer of fruit until it is moist. Serve warm or cold as a side dish or as a dessert with a dollop of sour cream or yogurt.
    Serves 4 to 6.
