Mom'S Applesauce Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts

Preparation

Over low heat, melt shortening and chocolate and cool.
Blend in sugar, eggs, 1/2 cup applesauce and vanilla.
Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt and nuts.
Bake in a brownie pan, 9 x 9 x 1 3/4-inch, 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
